The Worlds Simulator is a fan-made interactive tool that allows League of Legends enthusiasts to simulate the World Championship tournament. Create your own predictions, follow live results, and see how different matchups could play out in the quest for the Summoner's Cup. This is an unofficial project created by fans, for fans.
This was a fun project that started in 2023 with the introduction of the new Swiss stage format. My friends and I couldn't wrap our heads around the thousands of possibilities this new format created.
It all began in 2023 with a fascinating Reddit post I came across that analyzed how likely it was for Western teams to qualify to the next round without ever having to beat an LCK/LPL team in the process. This sparked my curiosity - I wanted to know how the percentages would change after the first day draws. (It was still at 62.4% for at least one team to get out of groups without beating an Eastern team when simulated 10,000 times).
While discussing with friends on Discord and analyzing how the Swiss stage could shape up as the tournament progressed, I decided to build a simple app. It started as a console script and eventually grew into a full web application.
The original version launched as a rushed but functional tool with two modes: randomized results (with East bias or complete chaos) and Pick'em mode where you could select match outcomes. Since then, it has evolved into a comprehensive simulator that thousands of fans use every year.
Our simulator uses the official tournament format and rules from Riot Games. The Swiss stage follows the new draw system with proper seeding and pooling mechanics. The bracket stage includes accurate matchup generation based on Swiss stage results.
In Playground mode, you can make your own picks and see how the tournament unfolds based on your predictions.
